Letter: AVRWC to TOAV regarding water conservation (December 22, 2015)

Mr. Frank Robinson
Town Manager
Town of Apple Valley
14955 Dale Evans Parkway
Apple Valley. CA 92307

Subject: Conservation

Dear Mr. Robinson:

Apple Valley Ranchos Water Company (AVRWC) was ordered by the State Water Resources Control Board and the California Public Utilities Commission to reduce overall water use. AVRWC was given a state-mandated 28 percent water use reduction target as compared to 2013. The target is currently being met. but to be successful will require the cooperation of the Town of Apple Valley (Town).

The Town’s irrigation of open space and park areas represents one of the largest water uses in our system. A recent water audit on several of these meters shows the Town is watering more than three days per week and for more than ten minutes per station at some locations. AVRWC requests the Town reduce watering schedules or even discontinue irrigation throughout the winter months. The Town’s cooperation and reduction of watering schedule will help in meeting the state-mandated 28 percent water use reduction target.

Please respond within 10 calendar days to confirm your willingness to comply with the watering reduction. Please feel free to contact me at 760-247-6484 if you have any questions or need further information.

Sincerely,

Antonio D. Penna Jr.
Vice President/ General Manager
Apple Valley Ranchos Water Company
