AVRWC holds community meeting on pending sale of YWC (July 20, 2015)

AVRWC - Apple Valley Ranchos Water Company

Yermo, CA — Apple Valley Ranchos Water Co. held a community meeting for the customers of the Yermo Water Co. in the Yermo Community Service District’s meeting hall on the evening of July 15, 2015. The meeting provided Yermo customers an update on the pending sale of Yermo Water Co. to Ranchos Water. The Superior Court of San Bernardino approved the sale during a hearing on June 24th clearing the final hurdle to complete the transfer of ownership, said Ranchos Water General Manager, Tony Penna. Penna and about a dozen Ranchos employees were on hand to offer a status report on the sale and answer questions ranging from service improvements, conservation and billing.

Rick Dalton, Chief Engineer for Park Water, Ranchos’ parent company, presented preliminary plans for the anticipated system improvements on tap for the long neglected Yermo water system. Dalton indicated that Park was putting the final touches on a grant application to be submitted soon after the close of the sale transaction. Park is looking to obtain Proposition 1 funding to quickly address the many needs within the Yermo system.

Gary Lynch, Vice President of Water Quality at Park Water, informed the gathering of Yermo residents that the water quality issues the system previously faced under prior ownership have been remedied by Ranchos Water and the system is now in compliance with all state and federal water quality monitoring and reporting requirements.

First District County Supervisor Robert Lovingood has reviewed Ranchos’ capital improvement plan for Yermo and is confident the residents will be well served by these planned improvements, according to spokesman Don Holland.

Ranchos Water expects the escrow to close on the sale in mid to late August. The California Public Utilities Commission approved Ranchos’ purchase of the Yermo Water System earlier this year. The system has been in receivership since 2013.

Ranchos Water is comprised of highly trained and skilled water professionals who take great pride in serving their community and look forward to adding Yermo to the Ranchos family of customers.
