Hesperia water hookup rates (April 24, 2017)

The point I was making in my previous letter is that the homebuilder or homeowner pays his $6,700 fee himself. His fellow ratepayers pay nothing extra. Liberty is not charging for a service that the writer of ‘Missing information,’ Daily Press, 3-20-17, said could be $10,000 in other cities.

If they charged for this service, then maybe our rates could be lowered.

On a bi-monthly bill for 16 CCF we pay $2.48 per CCF and $55.83 more in service charges than in Hesperia.

We are subsidizing this service. In a public water company it is illegal to do this because you are using other ratepayers’money for the good of one person. There are nine new homes just in my area in the past 14 months.

If Liberty was charging the $10,000 the writer implied, that would be $90,000. Why should we pay for someone to get something free? Since Al Capone is dead I won’t get into the way they separate us from our money with surcharges. Needless to say, if he were alive he would be impressed!

I urge all Apple Valley voters to keep your left hand on your wallet and use your right (or vice versa) to vote for Measure F.
