AVRWC exceeds June water-savings goal (July 20, 2015)
For its first month of state-mandated water reduction, Apple Valley Ranchos Water Co. exceeded its target with a 29.5 percent reduction in its overall water consumption for June compared to the same month in 2013.
The State Water Resources Control Board recently mandated overall water use reductions for all of the state’s large urban water suppliers.
AVR’s customers are required to reduce water use by 28 percent for the period June through February 2016.
Water use is reported monthly to the SWCB and measured monthly and cumulatively.
General Manager Tony Penna attributed June’s conservation success to community efforts, including replacing lawns with low-water-use landscaping.
