Country Club makes historic shift to public course (December 8, 2008)

Apple Valley, CA — Starting December 10, the doors to the Apple Valley Country Club will be open to the public. Under management of the Town of Apple Valley, the entire facility will become a public amenity and add to the Town’s growing list of recreational and leisure activities. The golf course, driving range, pro shop, tennis courts and dining room will be available for immediate public use.

The complete transition from a private club to a public course will take place over the course of a few months. The December 10 soft opening will be followed by a grand opening on January 17 and a charitable golf tournament in April.

The entire process is contingent upon the successful resolution of the dispute over legal ownership of the club’s water rights. In the meantime, the Town will implement minor improvements, such as upgraded lighting fixtures, paint and carpet. The tennis courts are expected to be re-surfaced and coin-operated lights installed for night-time play. More substantial rehabilitation will be deferred until the ownership transfer is finalized.
