Last letter before today’s meetings (March 16, 2015)

Representatives of the Town of Apple Valley claim to be serious about controlling Apple Valley’s water future, but if that were actually the case they wouldn’t be using every opportunity to spread fear, uncertainty, and doubt through lies, misinformation, and innuendo (Takeover cost no drop in the bucket, Daily Press, March 15, 2015).

No, if they really do know as much as they claim to know about running a water utility, there’s a very simple process to show us: Buy the water company on the free market and run it themselves as private individuals. Then they’d get to set the rates as low as they want. Just think how much money they’d make!

As a bonus, they could inform us what alternatives they envision, when they learn that they can’t provide endless water to an ever-growing population in a desert at bargain-basement prices.

But that’s not what politicians do.
